A newcomer with an affinity for water

The fledgling heavy-lift company JH Logistik has found its niche.

Ship transport is still the exception rather than the rule for heavy and oversized cargo, even though there is definitely potential, emphasises Jens Hafemann, owner of JH Logistik, a logistics company founded in mid-2007 with its headquarters in Delmenhorst near Bremen. This is why he and his currently eight-strong team develop transport concepts that include waterways.

Waterway transport is not only a welcome option in response to congested roads and because of its eco-friendliness, but it also offers advantages in the “sometimes sluggish authorisation procedures”, illustrates the entrepreneur. In this effort, the managing director also draws from his professional experience as a man who knows his way around water: Following his training at a heavy-lift freight forwarding company, Hafemann worked for Bremen-based port service provider Weserport as well as for Transcamion, a shipping agency with a strong focus on European ferry transport.

JH Logistik transports wind turbines

In 2007, Jens Hafemann’s company entered the logistics business in a big way. Quite literally “big”, given that JH Logistik is specialising in transporting oversized cargo.

Delmenhorst, Germany: Dismantled cranes to Sweden, tram cars to Portugal, cementing units to Russia: “think big” – that’s the motto of Jens Hafemann and his team. The company headquartered in the technology centre at the Nordwolle industrial site now hopes to have gained a foothold in the wind power business. This summer, JH Logistik landed a really big fish by successfully completing the delivery of an entire wind farm to Bulgaria. “This is our new reference project”, the 41-year-old entrepreneur says, not without pride, referring to the recently concluded delivery.

JH Logistik funnels in fresh impetus

JH Logistik, a fledgling logistics specialist based in Delmenhorst near Bremen, is in the process of proving that even a small enterprise can be capable of managing the transport of a major installation. The company is busy moving wind power plant components from various European countries to Bulgaria in collaboration  with the project cargo and logistics firm  Ofplan Projektierungs und  Logistik GmbH.
